We want you to get the most out of our site. This section will give information on how to navigate around the Abbot House website and how to use its features.

Below, you will find a brief description of this site.


Structure

The Abbot House website has very distinct sections which all follow the same layout to display their information.

Every page will have a navigation banner at the top which allows you to access every area of the website through a list of links:


Visit - details the facilities available at Abbot house
Learn - a brief history of Abbot House
Explore - provides information about Abbot house
Support - information on Dunfermline Heritage Trust
News - an up to date list of current news and events
Home - a link back to the homepage
Accessibility - Abbot House accessibility statement
Help - A brief guide to using the Abbot House website


Navigation

On the right of each internal page, you will find the menu which will helps you navigate the section and links to related pages. Also to right of every page you will find full contact details for Abbot House Heritage Centre including an email link.

In the centre of every page sits the main information.


Annotated screenshot indicating where the navigation, content and contact details can be found on every page on this website.


Some internal pages contain links to word documents. These links, when clicked, will open in the same window and are intended to be printed out and filled in or kept for future reference.


Browsers

Some browsers might not display this site's text and graphics properly. Most browser manufacturers allow you to upgrade to newer versions for free. If you are able to upgrade we recommend that you do so.

Plug Ins

Plug-ins are pieces of software which work with your browser to give you extra functionality - like animation and different fromats. You should download the following plug-ins, if you have not got them already.

Flash is a plug-in that allows multi-media and animation to play within the browser.

Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in allows pdf files (Portable Document Format) to open in your browser.

Once you have downloaded the plug-ins just put them in your plug-ins directory (inside your browser's directory) and restart your browser. The plug-ins should then be active.
